Building on the success from the first bulk sample of the Kelvin kimberlite last year, Kennady Diamonds (KDI) is planning on collecting an additional 500 tonnes to increase the overall sample size. Aurora Geoscience Ltd. (Aurora) out of Yellowknife is the primary contractor for KDI and has sub-contracted Mike Waldegger (MFW Geoscience) to manage the field activities of the RC Bulk Sample drilling program. The bulk sample will be collected using two reverse circulation (RC) drills supplied and operated by Midnight Sun Drilling pictured below.
The Project is located 280 km northeast of Yellowknife, NT in the Slave Craton in northern Canada, less than 10 km to the east of the De Beers Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine. MFW will be in the field implementing logging and sampling procedures, establishing chain of custody of the kimberlite bulk samples, and mentoring junior geologists. The bulk sample will be collected using two large diameter drills and the program is expected to run from the beginning of February to mid-April of 2016.
